U3A Home video Group
Member Malcolm Marples was inspired by an article in the recent u3a Matters magazine about a u3a group making a Video, and wondered if any members of Forest Town u3a would be interested in creating/joining our own u3a ‘Home Video Group‘, not to make a video of our u3a but for members who want to develop their own Home Videos, or would like to to know how to make one, many of us have probably got 'clips' on our phones/cameras and would like to know how to preserve them.

"I have been thinking about this for a couple of years but never got round to it, I have taken my own recordings since our children were born, but lost interest the last few years as the software for editing got more complicated, I would appreciate discussing making home videos with other like interested people".
Malcolm.

At the heart of the U3A are its interest groups.

Interest groups are organised and run by members with a common interest who want to share their interest and learn together.

Groups have a leader who arranges the venue, day and time of the meetings mutually agreeable to members of the group, organising a group isn't necessarily the responsibility of one person, 2 or 3 people working together can help with the smooth running of a group.

Contact  Groups Co-ordinator Marilyn if you want to start a group or have any ideas for a group.

This year has seen lots of changes in our u3a.

There are events and trips every month and we try to find something to interest all our members.

Getting out and about and staying connected is crucial to our mental well-being, however, we are not just a social club; the key u3a aim is to provide opportunities in later life to continue to learn and enjoy new skills, to stretch our imagination, to share our interests and knowledge, having a mental work-out is just as important as a physical one, Forest Town u3a is trying to give you opportunity for both, which means that there is always room for a new group, so, if you have any ideas, please let us know.

On that note we have had recent suggestions for the following:

  • A theatre group: local and further afield.
  • Our own choir: wouldn't that be great?
  • Re launching the bird watching group.
  • Re launching the cycling group.
  • Re launching ten pin bowling.
  • Line dancing: learning routines to music is good for the soul.
  • To get off the ground these new groups will need new leaders. Opportunity knocks!

Please get in touch. Groups co-ordinator Marilyn Redfern

If you are thinking of joining, or trying out a group, please contact the Group Leader first to confirm the date of the meeting and to see if there are vacancies, if a group is full you can ask to be put on a waiting list or why not form a new group?

Remember that the blue display board at general meetings, the back page of every newsletter and the website list all of your current groups.

You need to be a member, or associate member of the U3A to join a group.

We have reciprocal arrangement with members of the North Notts Neighbourhood group of U3A's to allow their members to join our groups and vice versa, see the General News page.
